Smart Awards is the governing body for the telecommunications industry. Every engineer working on the Openreach Overhead and Underground Infrastructure requires a Network Operative Passport Scheme (NOPS) card, accredited by Smart Awards.
Our Smart Awards training ensures candidates are fully compliant with industry requirements, providing them with the knowledge and skills to work safely in the Openreach Infrastructure as well as the telecoms, civils, and utilities sectors generally.

How much do the courses cost?
Smart Awards training courses are priced individually, and costs can vary from £75 to £750. We can offer discounts on group bookings – get in touch for more information.
Can courses be delivered on-site?
Some of our Smart Awards courses are available for on-site delivery, but not all. Check with our team when booking.
When do the courses run?
Our Smart Awards training occurs regularly, with courses running at least once a month. View the upcoming course dates on the ATS Group website.
How long do the courses last?
Courses can last from 1-4 days. Check the details for the course you are interested in to find out its duration.
Do I need any prior qualifications?
Most Smart Awards courses are available to anyone over the age of 16, with no formal entry requirements. However, some courses may only be available to those over the age of 18 or 21, and learners are expected to have a level of literacy adequate to cope with assessments where present. Additionally, some more advanced courses may require prior NRSWA accreditations.
How long is the qualification valid for?
The Smart Awards certificate is valid for 3 years, after which you will need to complete the qualification again or attend a refresher course.
